MEET DAVE ELGER
Your Host, Dave Elger

Dave’s life-long affair with liquor started as a kid growing up in Mexico City. He recalls his father bringing home rare or hand made liquors and educating him about the importance of quality drinks.
To Dave, it was his father’s own passion for well-made and unique spirits that instilled in him a desire to hunt for, create and share the “perfect cocktail.” From Mexico to the Mile High City and every where in between, Dave spent many years professionally representing a multitude of top liquor brands including Cabo Wabo, Pucker and Jim Beam, to name just a few. Dave’s passion, personality and impeccable taste in fine spirits earned him the privilege to work directly with the Jim Beam family and with Cabo Wabo founder Sammy Hagar as each manufactured, launched and promoted their top brands.
In 2007, Dave realized his own life-long dream of starting a brand of spirits when he and his twin brother Will launched their award-winning Muchote Tequila, a fine reposado tequila. The brand has taken off and plans to expand the line in 2010 are well underway. Today, and after decades of top experience, Dave is considered the “foremost authority on everything booze,” and is a leading industry expert regularly called upon by the media and industry heads.
In addition to hosting Hotmixology, he has acted as a guest judge in national mixology competitions, appeared in television feature stories and is a regular contributor in all things alcohol and spirits. As host of Hotmixology, Dave’s passion for cocktails and entertaining pours through as he helps to shine the spotlight on some of the country’s best bartending talents while educating his audience on the art of mixology. Each week, Hotmixology brings its viewers uniquely themed episodes and accessible, fun-to-make cocktails in a “try this at home” style — perfect for any amateur mixologists interested in learning how to mix the perfect cocktail.
Dave lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife Joy. When he isn’t out scouting and sampling exciting, new liquor brands, or shooting and producing Hotmixology, he loves to spend time with his family or smoking a good cigar.
